Privacy policy
What CapeCatalog collects and how outbound links work, including the Google Analytics 4 measurement and how to switch it off. Last updated 9 October 2026.
CapeCatalog is a static reference site. We do not run user accounts, we do not sell data, and we collect as little as possible. This page explains the small amount that is involved. It was last updated on 9 October 2026.
What we collect
Google Analytics 4 tells us which guides are read; the next section explains what it measures and how to opt out. If you email us, we keep your message only as long as needed to reply. If you subscribe to updates, we store just the email address you give us and you can unsubscribe at any time.
Analytics
CapeCatalog uses Google Analytics 4, provided by Google LLC and Google Ireland Ltd. It measures which pages are read — pages viewed, the referring site, approximate location at city or country level, device and browser type, and session timing. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. We have turned off advertising features, Google signals and ad personalisation, so the data is not used for advertising, and it is not sold.
GA4 sets two first-party cookies, _ga and _ga_<ID>, which last up to two years. They are set only after analytics is allowed.
Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland see a banner first, and nothing is sent to Google unless they click Accept. Visitors everywhere else have analytics on by default and can turn it off at any time. If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, you are treated as opted out. Your choice is stored in your browser's local storage under the key analytics-consent, not in a cookie.
To change your choice, open Cookie settings. Google's privacy policy describes how Google handles the data, and Google's Google Analytics opt-out add-on works in most browsers.
Cookies and third parties
The site itself sets no advertising cookies; its only cookies are the Google Analytics ones described above. When you click an outbound affiliate link, the destination site (for example a gift-card reseller) may set its own cookies to attribute the referral. Those are governed by that site's privacy policy, not ours. We link only reputable, mainstream resellers and never scam, account-selling or skin-generator sites.
Children
This site is a general-audience reference and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top. Questions about privacy can go to [email protected].
